BIG CITY MOUNTAINEERS RECEIVE MORE THAN $20,400 FROM ADOPT-A-CAUSE PROGRAM
(7 Any Mountain outdoor shops in Bay Area raise funds to help provide outdoor adventures for urban youth)
Broomfield, Colorado, Feb. 8, 2011—The employees of the seven Any Mountain outdoor shops throughout the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area finished their annual Adopt-A-Cause efforts this year by raising $13,721 from customers and shoppers during the month of December and early January to benefit Big City Mountaineers—a non-profit company that provides transformative outdoor experiences to under resourced urban youth throughout the Bay Area.
Additionally, Vail Resorts Echo program sweetened the donation by contributing an extra 50 cents for every dollar up to $100 donated by customers and shoppers for an extra $6,778 contribution this year.
The combination of donations and the matching contribution will amount to a check for $20,499 for Big City Mountaineers as a result of the Adopt-A-Cause campaign, now in its 13th year and part of a company-wide effort among the sporting goods stores of Specialty Sports Venture (SSV) based in Broomfield, Colorado.
Across four states--Colorado, California, Nevada, and Utah--the sporting good stores raised more than $116,830 from shoppers for a variety of different causes that were selected by the employees and managers of the shops in each region. The Broomfield based company then matched 50 cents for every dollar up to $100 in every store for a total match of more than $55,000. The combined total of $172,046 will be distributed among 14 different charities ranging from Children’s Hospital in Denver, a rural hospice, Search and Rescue programs, ski programs for the disabled, and special children’s causes.
“It’s exciting for us to keep this effective program going and growing in the communities where we live and work because that is vitally important to us,” said Kat Jobanputra COO of Specialty Sports Venture, the retail division of Vail Resorts. “Adopt-A-Cause allows our local employees to be advocates and raise money for hometown causes they believe in.”

(Local sporting goods shops raise funds for local causes)
Broomfield, Colorado, Feb. 2, 2011-Hundreds of employees working at more than 140 Specialty Sports Venture (SSV) sporting goods stores finished their annual Adopt-A-Cause efforts this year by raising $116,830 from customers and shoppers during the month of December and early January to benefit 14 different charitable organizations in the local communities where the stores operate. The recipients range from Children's Hospital in Denver, Big City Mountaineers in the East Bay area of California, and Vail Mountain Rescue to Hospice of Gunnison Valley, Bikes for Tykes, the Roaring Fork Conservancy in Aspen, and Wasatch Search and Rescue in Utah-with many more throughout Colorado.
